The 2017 Hobson-Taylor Family Reunion Committee is very pleased to announce the details of our 16th biennial family reunion. As our family grows, we value these times to get together, fellowship, share our history, and create memories.

The reunion will be Thursday, August 10-13, 2017 in the beautiful city of Savannah, GA. We are working very hard to organize a weekend full of activities and entertainment catered just for you.

Savannah, Georgia, is a charming city known for its culture, rich history, well-preserved architecture, celebrated restaurants and mannerly people. We thought it would be the perfect place for our family and we cannot wait for August 2017.

The reunion planning committee has selected the Hilton Savannah Desoto as our host hotel for the family reunion. Hilton Savannah Desoto is located in the center of the historic district. Room Rate:
The special group rate for the family reunion is $149.00 per night, plus tax and occupancy fee. This rate is available Thursday, August 10 through Saturday, August 12, 2017. Please note the tax/fees for Savannah are currently thirteen percent (13%) with a local occupancy fee of $1.00 and state hotel – motel fee of $5.00 per room per night applied to each room. Rates are based on single/double occupancy with an additional fee of $10.00 for each additional adult over two adults per room.

Individual reservations are required. Please contact one of the reservation departments as shown above. It is important for group reservations to be received by the Hilton no later than Tuesday, July 18, 2017. After the cut off date or once the group block is full, reservations will no longer be accepted at the special group rate; however, group attendees will be quoted the best available rate.

  • An additional charge of $10 is required for photographs which are to be included in any size ad. Business card ads that include a photograph on the card are also accepted.
  • All ad sizes, except patron listings, may include a photograph. Photos must be submitted as high-resolution .jpg files via email (rstokley@skurnikwines.com).



  • The Souvenir Program Book will be printed in portrait format. Ads may contain any graphics and/or photos as described above.
  • The page design will be consistent throughout the book.
  • The typefaces will be limited to four fonts for the entire book, aside from those supplied.
  • Your graphics will make your page unique.
  • Screens of color and gradation of color do not reproduce well and should be avoided. Black/White is preferred.
  • Please do not over design. Simple is more pleasing to the eye and easier to read.
  • The best means to communicate a change on the journal during the production 
process is in writing, via email. No corrections will be taken over the phone. If they are written, there will be less chance of spelling errors.
To ensure excellent quality printing, participants are requested to submit camera-ready ads. Ads must be original, clear black or color print, not fuzzy. Please submit as a Microsoft Word document, with digital quality photographs.
  • TIMELINE FOR RECEIPT OF ADS: All ads must be received no later than the FINAL collection date of: May 31, 2017. 
Any ads received after the deadline may not appear in the souvenir program book.



Ads will not be accepted unless they are accompanied by the appropriate amount of money and a submission of funds form. Ads should be listed on the “Ad Form”; a copy of your ad should be attached; and an electronic copy on CD or USB or by email to Regenia Stokley at rstokley@skurnikwines.com.

Remittance of Ads

  • EXACT message must be stated.
  • Spelling must be CORRECT.
  • Message must be TYPED in the appropriate size and format.
  • Submit ORIGINAL pictures only. Please ensure that all pictures are labeled with the participant’s first and last name so that they may be returned to the rightful owner.

Remittance of Patrons

  • Names must be ALPHABETIZED.
 Spelling must be CORRECT.
 Names must be TYPED.
 Names must include a TITLE (Mr., Mrs., Miss, Ms., Master, Rev., Dr., Colonel, etc.).
  • Ads must be typed exactly as it is to appear in the Souvenir Journal, or email a copy of your ad and/or business card to Regenia Stokley.

The Hobson-Taylor Family values the importance of an education. We help students achieve their academic goals by providing a scholarship for undergraduate tuition. You can read more about our current scholarship below:

1. Be one of the following: a graduating high school senior (class of 2017), rising sophomore, rising junior or rising senior in college.
2. Be a member of the Hobson-Taylor family.
3. Be able to provide proof of enrollment at your college or university.

Word Count: 500 – 800 words
Format: MLA

How to Enter:

  1. Include a cover letter with the following information: (Name, Address, School Classification, School Attending, Title of Essay)
  2. Craft an essay that responds to the prompt.
  3. Proofread your essay.
  4. Provide proof of enrollment at your school in your email.
  5. Send your essay to the Hobson-Taylor Family Reunion Committee. (Email: htfamilyreunion@gmail.com)

Chosen applications that meet ALL requirements will be awarded a scholarship in an amount determined by the committee. This is not a competitive scholarship. The goal is to support and encourage students who have successfully completed high school and who plan to further their education.

The registration fee includes Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, food in the hospitality room, and traditional complementary t-shirt, sun-visor, and cooling towel. Additional t-shirts can be ordered at $9.00 per shirt. If you are interested in attending the Old Town Trolley Savannah African American history tour, please be sure to include those tickets in your total registration cost ($12.00 for children ages 4-11, and $25.00 for adults ages 12 and up).

All fees are non refundable, and the registration deadline is May 31, 2017.
